Installer help
If McAfee quarantines the FallShield installer
Some McAfee installations may temporarily place the FallShield installer into quarantine. If that happens, follow the steps below to temporarily disable McAfee Real-Time Scanning, restore the installer, and run it from your Downloads folder.
Temporary workaround: This procedure is only needed if McAfee blocks or quarantines the installer.
We are working with the McAfee team to register our installer and app for a smoother experience in the future.
Before you begin: these instructions are for a temporary McAfee change.
After you restore and launch the installer, you should turn McAfee Real-Time Scanning back ON.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Click “See details” in the McAfee popup
If McAfee quarantines the installer, a popup appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Click See details.
2. The McAfee app will open
McAfee opens to the Security page.
3. Open Real-Time Scanning
Choose Real-Time Scanning in McAfee.
4. Turn Real-Time Scanning off temporarily
Temporarily disable scanning so you can restore the installer.
5. Open the Quarantine list
Go to the Quarantine section to find the FallShield installer.
6. Restore the installer
Select the FallShield installer in quarantine and choose Restore.
7. Run the installer from your Downloads folder
After restoring the file, open your Downloads folder and run the installer again.
Alternative to steps 5–7:
Instead of restoring the installer from quarantine, you can simply download it again and then open the newly downloaded installer file.
Reminder: once the installer has been restored and started, turn Real-Time Scanning back ON in McAfee.
