Follow this short guide to download the installer, complete setup, connect cameras, and start monitoring.
Take your time with each step. If anything is unclear the Contact page is there to help.
Open your Downloads folder and double-click the SafetySense installer file. Windows may ask if you want to allow the app to make changes — click Yes to continue.
If you have not downloaded the installer yet, open the FallShield download page ›
The installer sets everything up automatically, including downloading the AI model needed for fall detection. This is a large file and may take 5 to 20 minutes depending on your internet speed.
Before SafetySense can see your cameras you need to add them in the Tapo app on your phone. This takes about 5 minutes per camera.
Download the Tapo app on your phone from the App Store or Google Play.
Plug in your camera and follow the Tapo app instructions to connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
In the Tapo app go to Advanced Settings › Camera Account and create a username and password. Use the same username and password for every camera.
Make sure your phone and your Windows computer are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Mount cameras in rooms where a fall is most likely — living room, kitchen, hallway, and bathroom are good places to start. Position each camera so the full floor area is visible and a person can be seen from head to toe.
Corner of the room, angled downward, about 6 to 8 feet high. Full floor visible from camera to opposite wall.
Facing a window — bright light washes out the image. Mounting too low or too close to where someone stands.
Open SafetySense on your computer and create your account. You will need:
No credit card required. Your first month is completely free. Create your account ›
Before you rely on SafetySense do a quick test to confirm detection is working.
Open SafetySense and confirm the live camera feed is visible on screen.
Stand in front of the camera and slowly lie down on the floor so your full body is clearly visible.
Within about 5 seconds you should see a fall detection alert on screen. If you have an account set up a text and email will also go to your contacts.
If detection does not trigger after several attempts, check that the AI model was installed, that the camera has a clear view of the floor, and that good lighting is present. If issues continue contact support.
Email us and describe what you are seeing. We will walk you through it.
